Your Year-Round Oregon Coast Packing List
Dressing for Oregon Coast Winters
It gets chilly on the Oregon Coast during the winter. Average temperatures range from the high 30s to the high 40s from December through February. However, this “Secret Season” is a fantastic time to visit the coast. Packing plenty of warm clothes is your best bet if you plan on exploring our area this time of the year. Cozy sweaters and long-sleeve layers are a must if you want to spend time outside. We also recommend warm shoes or boots, winter coats and pants, and fuzzy socks.
After you bundle up, you can head out and enjoy the holiday festivities taking place in one of our oceanside towns. Thanksgiving celebrations like Haystack Holidays and the Christmas Lights in Cannon Beach are great ways to ring in holiday cheer!
Of course, one of the best places to enjoy the Oregon Coast during the winter is in one of our rental property. Starfish Vacation Rentals has a selection of prime oceanfront homes that are perfect for watching winter storms crash against the shore. All that’s missing is a steaming cup of cocoa and a cozy blanket!
Dressing for Spring on the Oregon Coast
If you plan on visiting in the spring, your Oregon Coast packing list should include plenty of rain gear. Waterproof jackets, pants, and shoes are a must, especially if you want to see the great outdoors. Temperatures usually stay in the low 40s to high 50s during the day, so we also recommend that you bring a couple of warm jackets. However, frequent sun breaks in the afternoon provide chances to explore the outdoors.
Spring draws lighter crowds, offering visitors a rare chance to walk along one of our beaches or hiking trails without droves of people. You’ll also find a handful of fun festivals in the spring, most notably Get Lit at the Beach and Savor Cannon Beach.
One of the most popular activities this time of the year is whale watching. Although you can spot whales year-round, the last week of March is the best time to see these marine creatures migrate north to their summer feeding grounds.
Whatever you choose to do here in the spring, checking the daily forecast is a necessity!
Dressing for Summer and Fall on the Oregon Coast
Summer and fall are the warmest seasons along the coast. Rain typically doesn’t creep into the forecast until the end of fall, and you can expect average daily temperatures to range from the mid 40s to the high 60s. Your Oregon Coast packing list should always contain some rain gear, but shorts, T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, and flip-flops are staples during this time of the year. We also recommend bringing lighter jackets and pants as well.
Hiking shoes are a must during the summer and fall, as these are the best months to enjoy the treasure trove of outdoor activities on the Oregon Coast! Hiking, crabbing, surfing, biking, and kayaking are just a few of the incredible adventures that await! You’ll also find a handful of events like the Muttzanita Dog Festival and the Stormy Weather Art Festival.
